Prep roundup: Rams rally past Mountaineers

MADISON — Strasburg’s offense came together at just the right time Friday night.

The Rams scored in the final minutes to rally for an 8-7 Bull Run District victory over Madison County.

Strasburg quarterback Adam Miller scored on a 4-yard touchdown to cut the lead to 7-6 with 2:34 left. Wide receiver Trevin Howard then connected on a pass to Tyrik ‘Papoose’ Steed for the game-winning two-point conversion.

Miller completed seven consecutive passes on the game-winning 84-yard drive. Miller finished the game 9-for-14 for 130 yards. Running back Justin Carr finished with 56 yards rushing.

The Mountaineers moved the ball on the Rams throughout the game, but Strasburg’s defense made big stops when it needed to.

Fort Hill 23, Sherando 14
STEPHENS CITY — The Warriors suffered their first defeat of the season as Fort Hill (Md.) rallied in the second half.

Sherando led 14-0 at the half. Sherando junior Dylan Rivers scored on a 3-yard touchdown run with 7:17 left in the opening quarter. DJ Myers scored on a 6-yard touchdown run with 6:16 left in the first half to extend the lead to 14-0.

Fort Hill quarterback Nathaniel Graves connected on a 28-yard pass to Brayden Brown with 11:38 left in the third quarter. Fort Hill cut the lead to 14-9 on a safety with 11:28 left in the quarter.

Fort Hill took the lead for good on a 14-yard touchdown run by Graves with 9:02 left in the third quarter.

Graves scored again with 1:14 left in the game on a 3-yard touchdown run.

Myers led Sherando with 106 yards rushing on 18 carries.
